FAQ / CLIENT CONCERNS

What are the benefits of hair extensions?
If your hair is thinning, balding, fine and limp, or just won’t grow to the length you desire, hair extensions can give you the look you are after. Glamorous hair is no longer just for celebrities and models; anyone can create the look they want with hair extensions. Luscious length, va-va voom volume and fabulous fullness can be yours. Unlike wigs, or clip-ins, because hair extensions stay in your hair, you can enjoy going to bed and swimm with beautiful hair and waking up with beautiful hair.

I am afraid of damaging my hair with extensions… is this the case?
Hair extensions that are badly applied or not maintained properly can damage the hair, however so does the way many women treat their hair on a daily basis – blow-drying, heat styling and colouring. Garden of Eve hair extensions do not promote a single franchised hair extension solution. Rather, we have the knowledge of several of the most popular hair extension techniques. We look at your existing hair structure and texture, and tailor a solution that will work best with your hair. There are many different extension techniques and there will be a solution for your hair.

How much do hair extensions cost?
The cost of your hair extensions will vary depending on what you need and want. Garden of Eve offer a free consultation so you can come in and discuss your needs and a price can be given appropriately.  Generally prices are from $200 to $3000.

What is the maintenance of hair extensions?
Just as you invest in quality hair products and spend time taking care of the condition of your hair, so will your hair extensions require special care and a bit of TLC to keep them looking their best. Your Garden of Eve trained expert will require you to come and see them for maintenance.
You can expect that:
Every four to six weeks you will need to see your hair specialist to check on the attachment and do any maintenance.
At 12-16 weeks the hair will have grown several centimetres and the attachment will need to be either re-used or new ones added.
Your stylist will talk you through the specific needs of your extensions at the time of consultation.

How do I care for hair extensions at home?
After you have spent money getting beautiful hair extensions, you must take good care of them. To take the best care of your hair extensions, follow these rules:
1) Do not leave your hair wet. Dry it as soon as possible after getting your hair wet.
2) Loosely plait your hair when you go to bed to reduce the risk of tangles.
3) Brush gently using a soft-bristled brush and working your way from the ends of the hair up towards the scalp. Do not tug at the extensions.
4) Tie your hair back in windy conditions and before exercise to avoid tangles.
5) Use a gentle shampoo and conditioner and do not dry harshly with a towel or rub the hair.
6) Keep your hair clean, by washing at least twice a week.
7) Do not use silicon or oil based products which can make hair look dull or loosen bonds.
8) Always ask your stylist before colouring your extensions and get colour done professionally.
9) Ask your stylist for styling advice and do not overuse heated styling tools which can cause damage to hair.
10) Swim wearing a swimming cap if you can and if not, wash hair immediately to remove chlorine.
11) Before you wash extensions. Spray on a small amount of conditioner. 1 part conditioner to 2 parts water. Comb/brush hair from end to scalp. Wet hair gradually. Adding too much water at once to a lot of hair, will cause hair to swell and may tangle badly.
12) Add shampoo and conditioner and comb/brush through the hair. Wash and brush air in the same direction. Blow dry in one direction following the length of hair from scalp to end with a comb or brush, handle it in small sections at a time.

Where does the hair you use come from?
Garden of Eve uses only 100% human hair. Synthetic hair does not look very good, cannot be styled easily and tangles relentlessly. We stand by the premium quality of our hair extensions and we offer a range to our clients, including virgin European or Russian hair which has not been chemically processed. We also offer virgin Indian or Asian hair as well as Remy hair, which has been chemically treated and may have been blended with another hair type. Contrary to popular ‘mythology’ hair extensions do not come from dead people or unethical trade, it is voluntarily sold by people who no longer want their long hair. At Garden of Eve we match your hair extension to your existing hair texture for the best result, and the lowest maintenance.

What are the pros and cons of clip in hair extensions?
Clip-in hair extensions have their pros and cons. They can be fun to change your look quickly. However, they have to be taken out of your hair at the end of the day and so only transform your look momentarily. Once people discover how amazing healthy, full-bodied and long hair can look, they generally want to find a more long-lasting solution. Why settle for beautiful hair only on special occasions when you can have gorgeous hair every day? You’ll also need to be careful what you pay for. Some clips are not strong enough and can slide out while you are wearing the extension and the majority of clip on extensions are synthetic, which tangle very easily and are very high maintenance.
